(set a combination hotkey if you want it to). For example if you push in you controller the buttons R3+Y you'll see the reset button animate, but the emulator won't reset. RetroArch only allows to "animate" controller buttons, so to "cheat" this limitation, and create an animated non controller buttons, i used a combination of controller buttons. NOTE ABOUT ANIMATED RESET AND FAST FORWARD BUTTONS On a screen ratio of 18.5:9 and 20:9 set video scaling to 4:3 ![]() On a screen ratio display of 16:9 set video scaling to 16:10 I tested this overlay on phones with screens of an aspect ratio of 16:9, 18.5:9 and 20:9. With this in mind, i made the portrait overlay with only horizontal elements. ![]() Meaning that vertical elements, wont align or stick to the top and bottom of the display. If for some reason it wont switch to portrait mode, and it stays in the landscape mode on the middle of the screen, I added a button on top " SWITCH TO PORTRAIT MODE" touch/click that to force the portrait mode.įor some reason, Auto scaling for portrait overlays is only functional in horizontal elements. This would auto switch the overlay to landscape if its hold horizontally, and auto switch to portrait mode if its held vertically. But Also Enable the AUTO ROTATE OVERLAY setting And in your phone enable the AUTO- ROTATION TOGGLE. Use the same Overlay setting as for landscape mode. OVERLAY SETTINGS (NOT NEEDED IN UPDATE 1.1) On the overlay settings set the OVERLAY OPACITY TO 1.0 VIDEO SCALING FOR LANDSCAPE/HORIZONTAL MODE For an aspect ratio screen of 16:9 set the video scaling to 4:3 non integer. ![]() Set "Show Inputs on Overlay" to "Physical (controller)" Or to "OFF" if overlay flashes on button presses. With this, the overlay won't look deformed if it's not used on a 16:9 display. As this overlay is made by elements that stick to the edges, no matter what resolution is used. Because my custom overlays have artificial scanlines built in, if anyone wants me to make ones without the scanlines so that it would display better on CRT TV's, just ask lol.Fully compatible with the overlay AUTO-SCALE optionĪnimated Fast-Forward Button (only on portrait mode)Įnable the AUTO SCALE OVERLAY option. This was done on a 16:9 TV, so I'm not sure how it would affect CRT TV's. Select Overlay Preset, choose one of the new overlays I provided in the download load up RetroArch Wii and choose the Game Boy emulator (gambatte)ħb. (otherwise things won't have the correct aspect ratio)Ĥ. Hi everyone and apologies in advance if this question falls under the noob-like umbrella. Change your Wii and your TV screen settings to 4:3 mode. How can I use original SNES Classic frames on RetroArch Borders. place the contents in "apps/retroarch-wii/overlays/wii" on wherever you have RetroArch Wii stored (such as an SD card)ģ. download the "border overlays.zip" at the bottom of this post.Ģ. This is for RetroarchYou can download the overlays here on mediafire. Right now there are only 2 overlays with plans for more starting with the Nintendo consoles/handhelds. /videos/searchqnes+border+retroarch&qpvtnes+border+retroarch&FORMVDRE Retroarch - NES with Overlay & Border - YouTube. When stretched to a 4:3 aspect ratio (so in my case 640x480), the Game Boy screen portion approximately became 400x308 - but this tutorial has it at 400x300 because that's the only way I could get everything to work, since because of how RetroArch Wii works, the overlay has to be the same aspect ratio as the actual viewport.ġ. This is a pack of overlays for RetroArch. I was disappointed when I found out that Gambatte for RetroArch Wii doesn't have Super Game Boy support (both color and border), but with some tricky manipulation of the overlay system, I have found a workaround.įirst of all, the Super Game Boy borders are 256x224 (typical SNES screen resolution), and the actual Game Boy screen portion is 160x144. I'm a huge fan of using Super Game Boy Borders, to me it just feels wrong to play a GB/GBC game on a TV without a border. ![]()
